Elevate membranes presented through the RubberSeal technical and system-support context, with QuickSeam detailing components.
TECHNICAL LIBRARY / EPDM ROOFING
One material family.
Different system logic.
EPDM systems can look similar from a distance, yet differ fundamentally in sheet format, attachment, seam technology, detailing and project scale. This page compares those routes without presenting a sales catalogue.
The new HERTALAN EASY WELD PRO roll, made-to-measure EASY COVER sheets and hot-air-welded RESITRIX membranes.
Prefabricated one-piece EPDM sized around the roof geometry, with substrate-specific adhesives and formed accessories.
Cut-to-size sheets, professional fleece-backed membranes and a coordinated range of tapes, outlets and terminations.
The correct route depends on the complete roof—not the brand name alone.
“EPDM” describes the membrane family—not the finished roof system.
Long-term performance depends on how the membrane is manufactured, sized, restrained, joined and detailed. The adhesives, primers, tapes, prefabricated components, outlets and terminations carry equal responsibility at the critical interfaces.
Thickness and sheet size belong to the selected system.
Nominal values, trade descriptions and overall composite thickness are not always expressed in the same way. The figures below keep each membrane within its own manufacturer route.
| System | Membrane thickness | Published sheet or roll format | Technical distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elevate RubberGard | 1.1 / 1.5 mm | Up to 15.25 × 61 m | Large seamless pure-EPDM sheets; QuickSeam field joining where required. |
| Elevate RubberGard SA | 1.5 mm | Self-adhered roll route | Factory-applied Secure Bond adhesive; seams remain a controlled system detail. |
| Elevate RubberCover | 1.0 / 1.5 mm nominal | Large residential sheets | Trade listings commonly describe the grades as approximately 1.14 / 1.52 mm. |
| HERTALAN EASY COVER | 1.2 / 1.3 / 1.5 / 2.0 mm | Factory-fabricated up to 20 × 30 m | Pure-EPDM sections joined by controlled factory vulcanisation. |
| HERTALAN EASY WELD PRO | 1.6 mm | 1 × 20 m roll | Glass-reinforced roll with integrated hot-air-welded joining edges. |
| RESITRIX SK W Full Bond | 2.5 mm overall | 1 × 10 m roll | Hybrid EPDM with polymer-modified bitumen backing—not a homogeneous EPDM thickness comparison. |
| STRUCTASEAL | 1.0 mm published merchant grade | Bespoke formats by project | Larger prefabricated membranes are a special-order route; final format requires confirmation. |
| FlexiProof One Piece | 1.20 / 1.52 mm | Up to 12.20 × 30.50 m | Premium and Heavy Duty homogeneous EPDM cut-to-size sheets. |
| FlexiProof Fleece-Backed | 1.2 mm EPDM + 300 g fleece | 0.75 / 1.52 / 3.05 m roll widths | The fleece is part of the composite build-up and must be stated separately. |
At this scale, factory-fabricated or site-joined EPDM sections create a single continuous waterproofing field. Panelisation, controlled seams, packing, transport, lifting, wind restraint and safe positioning remain part of the project design.
Commercial, self-adhered and smaller-roof routes.
RubberSeal provides the technical, training and system-support context; RubberGard, RubberGard SA and RubberCover are the Elevate membrane systems. The routes separate larger commercial roofing from smaller residential applications while retaining manufacturer-matched seam and detailing technology.
RubberGard EPDM
A cured 1.1 or 1.5 mm single-ply EPDM membrane supported by bonding adhesives, fastening components and the QuickSeam detailing range.
RubberGard EPDM SA
A 1.5 mm membrane with factory-applied Secure Bond adhesive. Side and end laps still follow the controlled RubberGard seam-detailing route.
RubberCover EPDM
A simplified residential route in nominal 1.0 and 1.5 mm grades, used with the dedicated RubberCover adhesives and accessories.
The field membrane is only the starting point.
A new reinforced roll system, fabricated sheets and hybrid membranes.
Carlisle’s European range now includes HERTALAN EASY WELD PRO alongside made-to-measure HERTALAN EASY COVER and RESITRIX hybrid EPDM with a polymer-modified bitumen backing.
HERTALAN
EASY WELD PRO
A 1.6 mm single-layer EPDM roll combining integrated glass-fibre reinforcement with factory-formed EASY WELD joining edges. The seams are hot-air welded without an open flame or separate seam tape.
The longer roll reduces transverse joints and allows up to 20 m² of coverage from a 1.0 m-wide roll before the next end lap.
Internal reinforcement limits overstretching and wave formation as the sheet is positioned, supporting a flatter installation.
Head and longitudinal EASY WELD edges are joined with hot air, without open flame or an additional seam tape.
The emerging green weld bead provides a direct visual indicator along the completed hot-air-welded seam.
HERTALAN EASY WELD PRO
One-metre-wide, 20 m reinforced EPDM roofing rolls with integrated hot-air-welded edges and multiple attachment routes.
HERTALAN EASY COVER
Factory-vulcanised pure EPDM in 1.2, 1.3, 1.5 and 2.0 mm grades. Fabricated sheets up to 20 × 30 m minimise field seams.
RESITRIX
EPDM with a polymer-modified bitumen backing: SK W Full Bond is 2.5 mm overall in a 1 × 10 m roll. Other RESITRIX routes retain the same hot-air-welded seam principle.
Prefabricated one-piece waterproofing with fewer field seams.
The published UK merchant specification identifies STRUCTASEAL as a 1.0 mm EPDM system. Bespoke project formats can extend to lengths of up to 30 m and widths from approximately 1.2 m to 13 m, subject to confirmation of manufacturing, transport and site-access requirements.
Final sheet size depends on roof geometry, manufacturing limits, transport, lifting, access and safe handling. Thicknesses listed for other brands must not be transferred to STRUCTASEAL without project-specific confirmation.
Reduce field seams, then control the interfaces.
The one-piece format reduces jointing across the main roof area, but corners, outlets, penetrations, changes in level and perimeter terminations still require system-compatible detailing.
- PU-based or water-based deck bonding selected around the substrate.
- Contact adhesive or spray-bond route at perimeters and vertical work.
- Prefabricated corners, pipe sleeves, rainwater outlets and roof-edge details.
- Classification and warranty remain dependent on the complete build-up.
Cut-to-size one-piece and fleece-backed routes.
FlexiProof separates its one-piece membrane offer from a professional fleece-backed system. The installation method, adhesive and jointing strategy must follow the selected membrane format.
Minimise seams through sheet sizing.
Cut-to-size sheets can be ordered across multiple widths and to lengths up to 30.5 m. Water-based deck adhesive is used on suitable horizontal porous substrates, with contact adhesive around perimeters, upstands and changes in direction.
Add bond strength and substrate tolerance.
The fleece is fused to the EPDM and helps the membrane accommodate minor deck irregularity. The dedicated fleece-backed water-based adhesive and pre-taped Turbo Seam route are part of the installation logic.
Bond, join, detail, drain and terminate.
Six checks before an EPDM name enters the specification.
These checks do not replace manufacturer design, wind-load calculation, tested fire build-ups or controlled installation instructions.
- 01ROOF SCALE + GEOMETRY
Sheet size, access, penetrations and changes in level determine whether one-piece, factory-fabricated or field-seamed installation is practical.
- 02SUBSTRATE + COVER BOARD
Timber, concrete, metal and insulation facers require different adhesive, preparation and fastening routes.
- 03WIND LOAD + ATTACHMENT
The field, perimeter and corner zones must follow a project-specific wind-load calculation and an approved attachment layout.
- 04SEAM TECHNOLOGY
Pressure-sensitive tape, factory vulcanisation and hot-air welding are different controlled processes—not interchangeable details.
- 05FIRE + ROOF BUILD-UP
Fire performance belongs to the complete tested assembly. A membrane statement alone does not classify the finished roof.
- 06COMPATIBILITY + WARRANTY
Primer, adhesive, flashing, outlet and termination components must remain within the selected manufacturer route where required.
This page is a technical comparison, not a statement that every product is stocked, supplied or approved for every project. It does not represent manufacturer endorsement, installer accreditation or a project specification. Product naming, current documents, substrate compatibility, wind-load design, fire performance, accessory selection, availability and warranty requirements must be verified for the chosen roof assembly.
